    EXCELLENT

    image

This was the best Tour of bicycle riding in my life

We're writing to tell about the wonderful trip that my brother and I had with VeloTopo and Jean-Philippe Soule as our tour guide and director.

We knew we wanted to ride our bicycles across the Pyrenees and as we viewed our different options for selecting a tour guide company, we were immediately struck by VeloTopo and Jean-Philippe. His responses to our questions were timely and detailed. You could tell that he would carefully research our request and had a deep understanding of what a cyclist would want on their holiday. Jean-Philippe and VeloTopo became the easy choice for us to use for our trip...

When we arrived on the east coast of southern France, we were a little nervous about the "what's next". But there to greet us was Jean-Philippe with the big smile that we came to adore over the course of two weeks...

From that point on, we were in excellent hands, whether riding our bicycles, eating, lodging, site-seeing, or navigating through the Pyrenees. It was great to see him truly enjoy making our trip as fun and interesting as possible. Jean-Philippe has one of those personalities that enjoys bringing joy to others. Besides being a great tour guide, he was fun to be around. We have many great photos of us laughing together, just enjoying the fellowship.

When we left, our wives asked us to please be safe. They worried about us doing something crazy in a remote part of France What we especially appreciated about Jean-Philippe is that he saw to our safety in numerous ways. He struck the right balance –there were no lectures on how to ride, but rather, suggestions and hints on how to handle ourselves. In short, he treated us with respect as adults, yet, his intense knowledge of bicycling and the Pyrenees combined to make sure that we never feared for our safety.

Jean-Philippe was also very detailed about the planning of the trip. When we asked about seeing the Caves of Niaux, he re-arranged our trip such that we were able to fit it in without sacrificing our ride time. Throughout the entire two weeks as we worked our way from the Mediterranean across the Pyrenees to the Atlantic, we always felt assured that he had attended to the details that a complex trip of this nature would require.

I should share a few words about the sheer beauty of the Pyrenees. On our second day of riding, I confidently declared to Jean-Philippe that "this was the best day of bicycle riding in my life." The problem became that each successive day was at or above that level of beauty and fun. When we would try to rate the various mountains, I would struggle In the end, I tended to land with the conclusion that the Pyrenees were simply the most beautiful and cycling-fun mountains I'd ever had the pleasure to ride.

Perhaps the best part about our adventure was Jean-Philippe's intense desire to have us enjoy the cycling and the Pyrenees. He planned our rides with the best views and best roads in mind. The smile of pleasure on his face when he saw how much fun we were having told it all —Jean-Philippe thrives in providing a great experience for others. The knowledge and research that it took to pull that off was truly exceptional.

If anyone is considering a bicycle tour in southern Europe, we strongly recommend that you consider VeloTopo and Jean-Philippe Soule.

Each of the seven days were as challenging as we requested but even more beautiful than I had expected

Jean-Philippe and Yumi, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the custom Corsica tour you arranged for our group of nine riders.

Each of the seven days were as challenging as we requested but even more beautiful than I had expected.

I loved the variety, from the dramatic seashore rides, and then the rides to the interior with both the dessert and rainforest like landscapes. Porto and Corte were my favorite overnight places.

Both of you did a very professional job to support us in every way possible. You are an amazing couple and I will recommend your services to anyone who would be interested in such a riding adventure. Regards and maybe we'll meet once again.

    lifetime experience

the most 'tailored' and customized cycling tour I have had the pleasure of completing

This tour was for me a once in a lifetime experience. It opened up my eyes to the truly remarkable and breathtaking surrounds of the Pyrenees while doing something I only ever dreamt champions of the Tour de France achieve.

Our itinerary was very well organized and thought through. Great diversification of hills/cols and climbs which maintained great variety throughout the 10 days. My impression was that the itinerary was truly customized to the needs and experience of our group.

The guide service was excellent. Jean-Philippe provided brilliant support to riders at both ends of the capability spectrum. Some great advice and tips for less experienced riders as well as advice for the local / unique conditions.

The food at Argeles was the best I have tasted in International travel (5 continents).

Jean-Philippe and Yumi are to be praised for their efforts in bringing together this experience. They single handedly coordinated and orchestrated one of the most 'tailored' and customized cycling tours I have had the pleasure of completing. Their deep knowledge and love for the region is clearly evident and provided for wonderful insight and great evening conversation after a long day in the saddle!

If you want to see some of the most beautiful scenery, eat some of the best food while testing your bodily limits Tour De France champions endure, cycle the Pyrenees with Jean-Philippe.

    extraordinary

He loves the Pyrenees, loves bikes, but most importantly, loves sharing it all with his clients

Sure, the climbs are extraordinary, the scenery is stunning and the food is great. What set the trip apart for me, though, was Jean-Philippe. He loves the Pyrenees, loves bikes, but most importantly, loves sharing it all with his clients. It was really important to him that I had a good time, whether that meant shuttling me from rain to sunshine or cheering me on when I was sucking wind. He consistently did more than was required to make sure that the trip was a success.

The mountains will be there, and they will be spectacular, but I was surprised at how important the right guide was to the success of the trip. Thanks!

As a cyclist, it is when you hit the road that you can truly appreciate the VéloTopo experience

My heartfelt thanks go to Jean-Philippe and Yumi for looking after us on the most amazing loop of Corsica and Sardinia. This tour was simply first class. The organisation that Jean-Philippe and Yumi put into a tour is outstanding. The tour route, the food and the hotels are all great. As a cyclist, it is when you hit the road that you can truly appreciate the VéloTopo experience.

The daily route starts with a debrief in the morning so you know what you are in for and what sites to keep an eye out for. The support on the road is always there and it is great to see the smiling face of Jean-Philippe or Yumi as you get to the top of a climb.

Corsica as a cycling destination is simply stunning with a diverse landscape. This needs to be on any cyclists bucket list.

Off the bike everything goes like clockwork and our needs were always met. VéloTopo obviously put in a lot of work doing recons of all the roads, hotels, restaurants etc. as everything was superb and as described.

I was lucky enough to share this experience with a great group of friends, both cyclists and non-cyclists. VéloTopo had put together a tour that met everybody's needs, catered for varying levels, and left everybody with wide smiles on their faces. The team are very professional, warm and have a wealth of experience that they enjoy sharing. It is clear that this is Jean-Philippe and Yumi's passion and that ensures a great experience for their guests.

So two weeks in Corsica was stunning and I am so appreciative of everything that Jean-Philippe and Yumi did to make our experience a trip of a lifetime.

Your experience, professionalism and extensive knowledge of the locations and history we were exposed to were exceptional

Three of my friends and I from CA recently spent eight days riding in the Pyrenees with Jean-Philippe and Co. for my 40th birthday. I had looked at several different companies and selected VéloTopo based on their experience, ability to put together custom tours, area knowledge, emergency and rescue background and email exchanges that communicated an eagerness to please.

This was my fifth riding trip to France and I should have done it with VéloTopo since the beginning as every service claim made on the website is so true. The customer service and willingness to go the extra mile was superb and we would have never found the pleasant hoteliers without Jean-Philippe. The hotels were comfortable with such nice staff, the routes were as challenging as we requested with snacks and lunch along the way and even hot tea or coffee at the top of cold climbs.

One of our group was in a small accident and Jean-Philippe completely took charge and negotiated with the onlookers, police and hospital staff. I feel we would not have been able to do this without the experience and local knowledge provided by VéloTopo.

Additionally, we took a lot of pictures during our trip and the ones I have seen that VéloTopo took look like Graham Watson was behind the lens; amazing!

VéloTopo will be our guide if we ever take another riding trip to France or Corsica. Finally, if you are on the fence in any way about selecting VéloTopo call me and I would be happy to tell you all about it. (Phone number removed for customer's privacy. Please contact us to request it).

VéloTopo's knowledge of the roads and terrain was superb

In July our group of nine avid cyclists from Australia undertook a 12-day cycling tour with VeloTopo in the French Alpes.

J-Philippe the tour operator was really helpful in planning a tour that saw us ride the famous TDF climbs and see a crucial stage live. He planned the tour in a way that increased the climbing volume and challenged all members of our group. He arranged accommodation in some fabulous chalets and hotels with tasty local cuisine.

J-Phi rode with us, with Yumi and Pierre in support vehicles providing us with drinks and food whenever we stopped. VéloTopo's knowledge of the roads and terrain was superb.

We had an amazing time with our friends with fabulous support from J-Phillipe and the VéloTopo team. Looking forward to planning our next tour.

From my first contact, I found Jean-Philippe and his wife Yumi an extremely warm and welcoming couple. They were both very considerate and empathetic to my personal situation and assured me that the trip would be wonderful. They were not wrong. Both Jean-Philippe and Yumi are truly fascinating people who have lived a very full and exciting life. Their general knowledge is exceptional, their stories captivating and their attention to detail is first class. They constantly ensure all guests, both cyclist and non cyclist are happy and well catered for.

I would encourage all cyclists with non-cyclists in their group who are considering traveling to France, Italy, Switzerland or Spain to contact Jean-Philippe and Yumi at "VéloTopo". I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. I also look forward to using this company in the next 12 to 18 months so I can fulfill my biking dreams.

The accommodation could not have been better. The hotels were friendly and the food fantastic.

I am writing to you upon my return to England after our self-guided Pyrenees cycling tour through Native Planet Adventures.

Everything was perfect and it was good to meet you in France. The routes were perfect and well planned considering how little you knew of us — we did everything on the routes. Whilst we loved the classic TdF routes - Hautacam, Tourmalet, Aubisque etc, we also enjoyed the smaller routes through wonderful villages and scenes.

The accommodation could not have been better. The hotels were friendly and the food fantastic. The reception from our Argeles hotel hosts was quite simply second to none in the world.

On the day we had a problem with one of the bikes your help in addressing the problem and your local knowledge was immeasurably important in ensuring we did not lose a day of our trip and we missed not a kilometer of the routes. Your commitment to us that day was beyond business. Your interest was in us as people and not simply as clients.

We could not highly enough recommend your services and your cycling holidays. I have learned a lot and enjoyed a spectacularly beautiful part of the world. I hope to be able to return and ride again these roads and do battle with these cols and their challenging gradients. With very best wishes.
